MEDICARE MOMENT: FLU SEASON

August 25, 2023

Flu season is right around the corner! Those with Medicare Part B can receive the flu shot free of charge each year at a doctor’s office or pharmacy. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist for more information. Medicare Part B will cover certain vaccines, including influenza and pneumococcal. Most other vaccines go through Medicare Part D (prescription drug coverage) or Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage Plan) if the plan includes prescription drug coverage.

Medicare Part D plans are required to include all commercial vaccines on their formularies. This means that plans will cover the Shingles, MMR, or Tdap vaccines.

Talk to a pharmacist about which other vaccines you might be eligible for.
